Condolences

MCS Family,

It is with deep sadness that we must share that two of our students, Nate (8th) and Gabe (6th) Beckett’s mother, Melissa, has gone home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 9.  Melissa Beckett died in her home of natural causes at a young age and leaves behind the two boys.  Sadly, Nate and Gabe’s father, Danny, went home to be with the Lord not more than a year ago.  Melissa and Danny both had a strong testimony for the Lord and the work that He had done in their lives and hearts.  We are thankful that we know that they are with our Savior, enjoying the promises that He has made to those who have been reconciled to Him.

What can we do as a MCS family?   The bible is clear that we, as the body of Christ, are designed to ease the burden of the individual members of the body (Gal. 6:2).  MCS will be accepting donations on behalf of Nate and Gabe Beckett to give as one donation to the church/family who is caring for them.  The family is asking for financial donations to help with the burden of the funeral expenses for Melissa.  Funeral expenses were not planned, and at this time, there are no funds for the service. If you would like to contribute financially, please feel free to make a cash or check donation at the MCS main office. (All checks payable to the boys’ church: Stratford Heights)   Also, the family is requesting food gift cards and gift cards for purchasing needed items for the boys’ and their new residence.   Also, simple cards and expressions of support for the boys are welcome.

The MCS school office summer hours are Monday through Thursday 9am to Noon, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact MCS at (513) 423-4542.

Our deepest condolences go to the Beckett boys and their extended family.

Students will be responsible for all material covered within each second semester class.  There will be one review day required to be given by all teachers on Thursday, May 18.  Specific reviews in content areas will be given at the teacher’s discretion.  You will notice on the exam schedule that there is a half an hour period before each exam for students to ask questions about any study material they might not have fully understood.  Students should be in attendance for these study times as well as for the exam time.  Exams will be counted as 20% of the final semester grade; therefore, first nine weeks is 40%, second nine weeks is 40% and the exam is 20% of the final semester grade.
Ninth and tenth grade students will be required to be in attendance at school the entire exam days, unless no other exams are scheduled for the remainder of that day and a parent or guardian signs them out in the office.  Lunch will be served each day for those who sign up during homeroom.

Eleventh and twelfth grade students who drive will be allowed to arrive at school during those times they have a scheduled exam (must arrive for the study hall prior to the exam); they will only be allowed to leave when they have no other exams for the remainder of that day. They must sign in and out with the office.  Students who do not drive or who do not wish to leave will have supervised study rooms when they are not in a scheduled exam.
It is our desire to fully prepare students for their advanced education.  We believe that mid-term exams help to prepare students for their future academic goals.  Hopefully, this letter will help your family adequately prepare for any changes to your schedule and enable you to make the necessary accommodations for a successful exam week.

In His Service,

The MCS Administration & High School Faculty

MCS Drama Team Demonstrates Superior Skills Once Again!

On Monday March 6th, the MCS Drama team, consisting of 34 students, traveled to participate in the annual ACSI Speech Meet in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Of those 34 students, only 11 (eleven) had participated in the past, making the success of this meet even more meaningful. MCS won the first-place trophy in 10 of the 13 competing categories which included a first in Readers Theatre (five students), a first in Duet Acting (2 students) and a tie for first among three MCS students in Children’s literature, resulting in 17 students getting first place trophies! In total, MCS performances won 28 blue ribbons, 14 red, and one white. Middletown Christian also received the annual school trophy for highest accumulative team score, an accomplishment by the MCS team almost every year since 2003. In addition, there were three students on the team who won two first place trophies because they competed in two different categories. Hannah Spahr won for Duet Acting and Children’s literature and Sandy Singh won for Humorous Monologue and Prose/Poetry Interpretation, and Hannah Maule won for Reader’s Theatre and Solo Acting. This team worked hard to accomplish their goals and glorify our Lord by developing those special talents He has given them. We are especially proud of their respectful spirits and their trust in God for the end results during their participation in the meet. The following is a list of the other first place trophy winners: Zach Byrum, Expository; Olivia King, Children’s Literature; Emily Riechman, Original Oratory; Katie Davis, Bible Memorization; Devan Mullins, Impromtu; Julia Riegert, Children’s Literature; Anna Zhao, Duet Acting; Hannah Maule, Maddie G
